Zig Zag Zim is a collaborative project by the National Gallery of Zimbabwe, Dzimbanhete Artist Interaction and Catinca Tabacaru Gallery New York which focuses on the resultant relationship with boundaries between tradition and the contemporary, foreign and local, black and white etc. Zig  ZagZim features artists from Zimbabwe, the United States of America, Guyana and Belgium.

First Floor Gallery presents its first collaboration with Zimbabwean artist, Helen Teede, It Is The Without, is a new body of work, inspired by the possibility of leaving the home she grew up in. These canvases and works on paper, are a melodic rumination on the idea of loss, nostalgia and memory. As an insightful and accomplished abstractionist, Teede is a rare phenomenon in contemporary Zimbabwean art. Not to be missed.

Synopsis: Zézé Gamboa’s sardonic historical drama follows Johnny, a good-hearted, apolitical man who, on the eve of Angolan independence in the mid-1970s, pulls off a massive swindle at the expense of the Portuguese colonial administration – and soon after he finds himself hailed as a hero of the national liberation struggle.

Paintings, graphics, ceramics and mixed media sculptures including works by Arthur Azevedo, Virginia Chihota, Lindsay Ford, Tafadzwa Gwetai,Lovemore Kambudzi, Helen Lieros, Webster Mubayirenyi, Clive Mukucha, Munyaradzi Mugorosa, Fungai Mwale, Daryl Nero, Thakor Patel, Kate Raath, Greg Shaw, Cosmas Shiridzinomwa, Freddy Tauro, Richard Witikani and Johnson Zuze.
