A year ago we started a lil’ market in our lil front yard. The goal behind it was to bring together the city’s ambitious, creative go-getters and create a market they could call home and showcase their amazing work. We called it, Hustler’s Market. The market organically grew into a highlight in Harare’s entertainment calendar a favorite chill spot and a community! A place where everyone can eat, chill and shop ALL LOCAL EVERYTHING!

To think that you would have been visiting a demolotion site and not the space that is not only the first creative hub in Zimbabwe but home to our city’s AMAZING creative community!
It is so many of the the Hustlers at the market as well as the 1000’s of people that have atteneded over the last year that stood up to #SaveMotoRepublik and I think that calls for unlimited thanks and a reason to celebrate what is an amazing victory! Women Creative Wednesday is an intimate networking and mentorship platform for women in the creative sector that works to encourage young women to pursue careers in the creative industry.

Our guest is Shamiso Ruzvidzo- Entrepreneur, Fashion Producer, Change Practitioner

In 2012, Shamiso opened her award-winning agency in her home country, and since her return has dedicated herself in adding value to the growth of the Zimbabwean fashion industry. Founding Fashion Weekend Zimbabwe a platform that exposes designers to buyers and links them to markers, includes milestones such as facilitating the Demoyo Brand launching in Truworths stores (first local designer in store for over a decade), coordinating the David Alford Brand to dress Diana Opoti ( Face of African Fashion) resulting in exposure on her Global Fashion Platform and participating in Source Africa Buyer Expo in Cape Town and Origin Africa Buyer Expo in Madagascar and promoting 6 local designers.

“Africa has a massive opportunity in its people. I believe African livelihoods can be built through using our hands to design our survival”. – Shamiso Ruzvidzo

It’s with this belief that KUSIKA Design Centre and Tailoring House was launched in 2016. KUSIKA trains, capacitates and supports the livelihoods of men and women. Shamiso believes failing forward has contributed to the strategic positioning and success of her business today.
